The R1S utilizes two dual-motor drive units for a total of four electric motors, allowing power to be independently controlled at each wheel through Rivian's advanced four-wheel torque-vectoring system.

The front drive unit produces a factory-rated 415 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque, while the rear produces 420 horsepower and 495 lb-ft, resulting in a combined output of an impressive 835 horsepower and 908 lb-ft of torque.

Energy is supplied by Rivian's Large 135-kWh battery pack, providing the substantial energy capacity required for the R1S's combination of high performance, all-wheel-drive capability, and long-distance usability.

The chassis features a sophisticated adjustable air suspension combined with kinetic roll control, allowing the vehicle to adapt its ride height and suspension characteristics to different driving environments.
